My family loves this chocolate cake with condensed milk! I've been baking it for over 20 years now. It's not complicated at all to make and it's very tasty. In my opinion it resembles the famous Austrian Sachertorte a little, they're both very chocolaty. I have to admit that this cake is not very light, but when it tastes so heavenly, what does it matter :)
The recipe was adapted from here.
Ingredients:
Base:
2 large eggs
7.1 (200 g) sour cream
1 cup (2 1/3 dl) sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
7.1 oz (200 g) sweetened condensed milk
2-3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cup (3 1/2 dl) all-purpose flour
Cream filling:
7.1 oz (200 g) sweetened condensed milk
2-3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup 2 tbsp (200 g) butter, softened and at room temperature
Glazing:
1 cup (2 1/3 dl) dark chocolate
3 tbsp milk, warm
Directions:
Base:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs, and sugar until thick and lighter in color (or ribbon like consistency); incorporate sour cream, and condensed milk.
- In a separate bowl, mix together cocoa powder, baking powder, and flour (don't forget to sift the flour and the cocoa powder). Combine the wet and dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
- Line the bottom of a 9.4-inch (24 cm) springform pan with parchment paper, butter the sides and sprinkle some flour on top. Pour 1/3 of the dough in the pan and bake for 20 minutes, or until the inserted toothpick in the middle of the cake comes out dry. Transport the dough layer from the pan to a wire rack and carefully remove the parchment paper. Repeat this step 2 more times in order to get 3 layers of cake. Let them cool.
Cream filling:
- In a medium bowl, beat the butter, condensed milk, and cocoa powder.
- Spread the filling evenly on each (cooled!) layer, except the top one.
- Spread the filling on the sides of the cake as well.
- Let the cake set in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
Glazing:
- Melt the chocolate in a microwave or using a double boiler (bring water to boil in a saucepan, place the bowl with chocolate in it on top, let the chocolate melt).
- Add milk; mix until well combined.
- Spread the glazing on top of the cake.
- Decorate the cake as you wish. I used banana slices, but you can also use, for example, nuts.
